Boys & Girls Clubs have been serving Sonoma County youth for sixty years! Many alumni fondly remember their days at the Barbieri Boxing Club in Healdsburg which eventually became our first Club in the County.
In 2008, Clubs in Healdsburg, Windsor and Rohnert Park made a bold choice and elected to join forces as a new organization – Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County. For these communities, the choice was clear. They aimed to both expand and continually improve services to the youth in their own backyards and they also shared a passion to reach out to ensure that every child in Sonoma County who wants or needs a Boys & Girls Club will have one.
To that end, in less than a year, the organization opened two new Clubs in Santa Rosa as well as a new Club in West Windsor.
In 2010 that expansion of services continued when our organization invited Boys & Girls Clubs of Cloverdale to join us. We now have two Clubs thriving in Cloverdale.
The Fall of 2010 brought two more openings with our first Club fully dedicated to teens at RAMS in Roseland and with our expansion into Geyersville!
In early 2011, we continued to grow, adding a second location in Healdsburg and announcing a fourth Santa Rosa club at Sheppard Elementary School. The winter of 2011 brought 6 new Clubs in partnership with Santa Rosa City schools. In the same year we opened a third Club in Cloverdale and partnered with the City of Santa Rosa and County of Sonoma to open a Club in Juvenile Hall.
In 2012 we expanded even further, opening 7 additional sites. In 2013 we opened 3 new sites and launched the REACH Program focusing on diversion and re-entry services for youth released from Juvenile Hall.
All of the organizational growth required additional space, so in 2014 the Youth Impact Center was purchased to house administration and our REACH program. In the same year we opened two more sites and received national recognition for the success of our programs! We were awarded the 2014 Boys & Girls Clubs of America Honor Awards for Program Excellence for Overall Program (Roseland Elementary School Club) and Innovation in Safety (JX Wilson Elementary School Club). We also received the 2014 Boys & Girls Clubs of America Merit Awards for Character & Leadership Development Programs (Sheppard Elementary School Club) and Health & Life Skills Programs (The Club @ Juvenile Hall).
In 2015 the Cloverdale Club received 2015 Boys & Girls Clubs of America Honor Award for Program Excellence for Overall Participation & Attendance. We also opened the Roseland Village Teen Club, the first teen-only Club in the Roseland community.
We are providing our Members with the caring adults, high expectations, and opportunities for meaningful participation that will allow them to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. With your help, we will continue to serve young people throughout Cloverdale, Geyserville, Healdsburg, Windsor, Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park, helping them to achieve Academic Success, to choose Healthy Lifestyles, and to develop Good Character.
Throughout the year, we are given the gift of amazing kids who come into our Clubs every day and share their lives with us. In order to continue changing the lives of Sonoma County children, we need your help. We invite you to join us in making a difference in the lives of thousands of Sonoma County youth!
