In acknowledgment of excellence in providing service to the public in Sonoma County, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors has selected Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County for the prestigious Jefferson Award in Public Service.
Established in 1972 by Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis; US Senator Robert Taft, Jr; and Sam Beard, a staffer to Bobby Kennedy, the Jefferson Awards Program is a national recognition system designed to highlight public service to America. It serves as a complement to local recognition efforts, tying winners into regional and national media systems.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County is extremely proud to not only be a local leader in the area of youth development and education, but also to have received significant recognition on a national level. Since 2014, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County has received six national awards from Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Awards were given in the areas of character and leadership development, innovation and safety, overall program participation and attendance, and overall program excellence.
