In the wake of the fires that have devastated so many in Northern California, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County has started a Fire Assistance Fund to support families directly impacted by the fires. Many of the 40 sites we serve in the North Bay are located in the middle of devastated area and we know that many of our families have been severely impacted.
Jennifer Weiss, Chief Executive Officer, shared when talking about the fund, “Our organization specializes in serving those who need us the most in the communities we serve. Sadly with the recent fire disasters the number of our families who ‘need us the most’ has grown tremendously. Additionally, many families that were already struggling to get by now find themselves without housing, work, or in some cases are left with just the clothes on their backs. Now more than ever our families and community need our support, and we will be there for them.”

What type of assistance will be given?
Cash grants will be distributed to families who submit our internal Relief Fund application. Grants are intended to support families in their greatest time of need to support with clothing, shelter, transportation, food, and home repair or clean up. Grants will be given to applicants based on availability of funds.
How are awards determined & distributed?
This work is close to our hearts as our CEO Jennifer Weiss lost her home and is currently facing the daunting task of rebuilding with her husband and two children. As such, we administer this effort in-kind to maximize the impact in our community. It is a privilege for us to participate in such an effort to best serve our community.
