The hours between 3 and 7PM can be particularly perilous for youth. It is during these hours across the nation that the highest incidents of juvenile crime occur. The likelihood of committing these crimes increases with any reported gang affiliation.
Presently, 1 in 5 Sonoma County kids reports gang activity before the 8th Grade and 70% of the 1,362 youth booked in Sonoma County in 2011 reported a gang designation. In addition, 97% of subsequent violent offenses are committed by these gang affiliates.
We know these young people need our help. In 2012, we expanded our operation to serve the youth in Juvenile Hall. 2013 brought further expansion to help these young people transition back into our community through our targeted re-entry program, REACH. In addition, we hope to help them make better choices before incarceration through additional Diversion & Intervention Services programs.

Whether incarcerated, on probation, or participating in diversion services, we strive to help young people feel competent, useful, a sense of belonging, and as if they have influence over their lives.
In our REACH program, we work with these young people in six program areas through intensive case management session, training workshops, and group activities. Each young person entering our program crafts an Individual REACH Plan to make progress in the areas of WORK, EDUCATION, RELATIONSHIPS, COMMUNITY, HEALTH and CREATIVITY.
In 2012, we opened a Boys & Girls Club inside Los Guilicos Juvenile Hall in Santa Rosa. Programs are offered to incarcerated youth in the areas of Character & Leadership, Academic Success, Health & Life Skills, the Arts, and Sport & Fitness to help put them on a path to academic success and to encourage them to live healthy lifestyles and to demonstrate strong moral character.
