New after-school programs offered at San Jose and Sinaloa middle schools and Lynwood and Olive elementary schools

Novato, CA – Oct 31, 2023 – Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin opened four new locations in Novato on October 10 to provide comprehensive after-school programs for local children. The Novato School Board approved the partnership with a unanimous vote in September.

The four schools that are participating include:

  • San Jose Middle School

  • Sinaloa Middle School

  • Lynwood Elementary School

  • Olive Elementary School

We strive to ensure that the Clubs provide caring relationships with adults, high expectations from others, and opportunities for meaningful participation. By participating in our Club, we want kids to succeed academically, make healthy life choices, and develop good character.

We aim to provide opportunities for meaningful participation among at-risk children and adolescents. For Novato families in need, Club programs are provided at no cost.

The ability of low-income families to send their children to the Club can help reduce the stress of finding high quality childcare after school when parents have to work. This will reduce the burden placed on extended family members and help our families thrive.

“The Novato Unified School District is excited to be partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Sonoma-Marin,” said Michael Casper, expanded learning opportunities coordinator of the Novato Unified School District. “We share the same vision of doing whatever it takes to support our qualifying students with enriching, fun, and unique experiences during non-school hours. Our students are having so much fun in a safe and nurturing environment with friends and trusted adults.”

“We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Novato School District to provide our after-school programs to their students,” said Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin CEO Jennifer Weiss. “Our programs are designed to help students reach their full potential, and we are excited to work with the district and the schools to make a positive impact on the lives of their students.”
