Boys & Girls Club Holds Annual Youth of the Year Events

Santa Rosa, CA (April 22, 2024)—Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin will be celebrating its most outstanding Members at their annual Youth of the Year events throughout the months of April and May.

The Youth of the Year program culminates in these annual recognition events held for each Club and honors nearly 2,000 Club Members who have exemplified success in core program areas: Academic Success; Character and Leadership; Health and Life Skills; Sports, Fitness and Recreation; and the Arts.

During these annual celebrations, we will distinguish Club Members in each core area and announce the Club Youth of the Year. Being selected as a Club’s Youth of the Year is the highest honor a Club Member can receive.

"At Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin, we see so much potential in each and every kid who walks through our doors,” said Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin CEO Jennifer Weiss.  “The Youth of the Year program isn't just about medals and speeches; it's about celebrating the amazing things our Members achieve. When we recognize the leadership, kindness, and hard work of our Members, it inspires others to believe in themselves and chase their dreams. These young people are the future leaders of our community, and we are so proud to be a part of their journey."

These family-friendly events are a chance for the community to witness firsthand the positive impact the Clubs have on young lives.

What Makes This Event Special?

  • Celebrating Success: The event honors Club Members who have shown significant improvement or excelled in core program areas throughout the year.

  • Focus on Character: Boys & Girls Clubs recognizes those who exemplify the "Club Kid mentality" – leadership, helpfulness, and a willingness to embrace new opportunities. Many Youth of the Year winners go on to compete for prestigious scholarships and leadership opportunities.

  • Building Future Leaders: Partnering with community leaders like Panda Express, Comcast, and Redwood Credit Union, this event showcases the collaborative effort of shaping future leaders.
